The Need For Dental Implants • Large Numbers Still Suffer Tooth Loss

The current state of dental care technology is amazing. Today’s dental patients benefit from high-tech digital x-rays, intra-oral 3D scanning and CNC precision machining of dental restorations, laser periodontal treatments and pre-symptom cavity detection with laser fluorescence. Despite unprecedented advancements in dental care, millions of Americans still suffer tooth loss due to injury, gingivitis (gum disease), or decay.

Dental Implants are the Modern Alternative to Bridges/Dentures

For decades the only treatment options for people with missing teeth were bridges and dentures. Today Dr. Lim can insert a titanium “tooth root” known as a dental implant into the jawbone. Once integrated with the jawbone the dental implant can be used to replace one tooth or multiple teeth for a full, healthful smile that looks natural and functions very much like natural teeth.

Why should I replace a missing tooth?

"Resorption" (bone loss in the area of a missing tooth) is the inevitable complication of long-term tooth loss. As time passes, missing teeth can give rise to a mouth rearrangement, and it becomes increasingly more challenging and expensive to replace a missing tooth and at some point may become impossible. That's why it's important to replace a missing tooth sooner rather than later. Dental implants prevent resorption by integrating into the jaw bone, allowing normal chewing pressure to maintain the health of the gums and jaw bone.

Missing teeth can cause serious complications if left untreated.
